SSCI2025 - Call for Tutorials

The organizing committee of IEEE SSCI 2025 invites proposals for tutorials from computational intelligence experts from academia, industry, and government agencies, for presentation as part of the Technical Program. The tutorials will be presented on the first day of the conference, 17th March 2025 with 3-4 tutorials running in parallel.

IEEE SSCI is known for promoting the exchange of innovative theories and advanced algorithms in the field of Computational Intelligence Applications. The goal of a tutorial is to encourage the sharing of research ideas and applications, creating an environment that supports future collaborations, and brings together audiences with different backgrounds including researchers, students, and practitioners. Tutorials should focus on a specific theme and both theoretical and methodological aspects are welcome. Tutorials covering emerging and interdisciplinary topics in Computational Intelligence are particularly endorsed.

There is no specific format of the tutorials, but the tutorials should be well-organized and systematic. The tutorials may feature examples of the presenters' work, but they should not serve to promote or endorse the work of the tutorial organizers. The organizers of the tutorials will need to prepare tutorial materials including presentation slides and digital handouts for the tutorial delivery. In addition, the tutorial organizers are required to set up web pages to attract potential participants.

The duration of the tutorials are 1.5 hours in length, depending on program scheduling. A tutorial can be:

  • A title with presenters and their affiliation
  • An abstract for web publicity
  • Link to web page
  • Which symposia the proposal is relevant for (one primary or multiple)
  • An overview of the topic explaining its relevance and significance to Applied Computational Intelligence
  • A tutorial schedule with topic and time allocation. Please also outline the distributions of the presentations in the case of multiple presenters. (Note that one registration is waived per tutorial)
  • Explain how will you engage the attendees and contribute to interaction
  • List recent earlier experience in giving tutorials (what topics and at what conferences)
  • A short biography of each presenter with e-mail and link to personal web page

The proposal will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance and how it complements with other proposed tutorials
  • Timeliness
  • Technical content/application
  • Novelty
  • Expertise of the proposers
Tutorial proposals should be submitted via email to the IEEE SSCI 2025 Tutorial Chairs:
Deana Delp - deana.delp[at]asu.edu and Jim Tørresen - jimtoer[at]ifi.uio.no.
